Cancer Prevention Recipes

Here are just a couple of my favorite Cancer Prevention Recipes, make sure you get the rest of my delicious recipes as well as a look at what foods and spices you should be eating to prevent cancer.

Barbeque Beans 

Pinto beans are inexpensive and have a long shelf life, making them the perfect food to keep stocked in your pantry. They’re also high in antioxidants and contain flavonoids, which can cause the death of cancer cells and stabilize cell-damaging free radicals. Enjoy their benefits in this hearty pasta dish.

Ingredients

1 lb whole wheat pasta

1 can yellow corn

1 can black beans

1 can pinto beans

1/2 bottle of BBQ sauce

1/2 bottle of enchilada or red sauce

Directions

Cook the pasta. Add beans and corn. Slowly mix in the BBQ sauce and enchilada sauce. Refrigerate before serving.
Portobello Mushroom Napoleon With Balsamic
Ingredients
4 to 6 large Portobello mushrooms
Stuffed Mushrooms
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
2 medium red bell peppers
1/4 cup low-sodium vegetable broth
2 tablespoons chopped fresh garlic
10 oz baby spinach
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
2 tbsp minced parsley or basil
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 ° F. Remove the stems from the Portobello’s and wipe them clean with a paper towel.

Cancer Prevention Berries

There are so many good berries that are cancer prevention berries, blueberries, blackberries and a new super berry called the ligonberry.

Ligonberries are one of the latest super berries for 2012, again very rich in antioxidants. Lingonberries grow wild in Scandinavian forests and in Northern Canada.
These wild berries flourish in the summer during the midnight sun. They are small firm berries with a slightly sweet and slightly sour flavor.

There has been so much research done on cancer prevention foods, here is a summary of some of the most common healthy food choice that are good for you and what types of cancer these foods help prevent.

Mushrooms

Mushrooms are nutritional powerhouses packed with vitamins, minerals and disease-fighting antioxidants.

Grapes

Grapes (and red wine) contain the chemical resveratrol, which is a very potent antioxidant that can prevent cell damage before it begins.

Flaxseeds

Flax contains lignans, which can have an antioxidant effect and block or suppress cancerous changes. The omega-3 fatty acids can also help protect against colon cancer.

Whole Grain Bread

Whole grains contain other substances that might battle cancer, including lignans, which act as antioxidants, and saponins, which could keep cancer cells from multiplying. For even more lignans, choose a whole wheat bread sprinkled with flax or sesame seeds.

Green Tea

Green tea has a function to prevent cancer, black tea and oolong tea are also has some benefit. But green tea has best be opposed cancer substance and most potential to fight against liver, breast and prostate.

2.    Cooked Tomatoes have more cancer-fighting properties than raw tomatoes. Both contain the molecule lycopene, but heating the tomato changes its chemical structure and makes the benefits more readily available to your body. You should eat 2-3 (1/2 cup) servings of cooked tomatoes a week.

3.    Artichokes contain 3 different cancer-fighting molecules. Enjoy ¼ cup of hearts per day.

There has been so much research done on cancer prevention spices, here is a summary of some of the most common spices that are good for you and what types of cancer these spice help prevent.

So if you have a history of breast cancer in your family it would be wise to add garlic and rosemary to your diet.

Rosemary has great detoxifying properties and can repress the advancement of tumors. Effective in fighting against breast and skin tumors

Turmeric belongs to the ginger family and it is thought to help reduce the inflammation that is connected to stomach, bowel and colon cancer

Root ginger has been used by Chinese medics for centuries and is well regarded for its many healing benefits. It can be used as a spice in savory and sweet dishes and as an herbal tea

Garlic is well renowned for its blood thinning and anti-bacterial properties. It can also help to eliminate oxidants that cause cancer, such as carcinogens and free radicals. Eating raw or cooked garlic has been found to be far more effective than taking garlic supplements

Licorice root contains a chemical called glycyrrhizin which is considered to help block the growth of prostate cancer cells, though an excessive consumption of licorice can lead to raised blood pressure

Chili peppers are rich in a substance called capsaicin that is regarded to be a preventative against intestinal cancer. Chili peppers are an excellent source of vitamin C. Reduce risk of heart attack by reducing cholesterol, by helping to help keep arteries unblocked.

Eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day and plenty of legumes and whole meal products. These foods are rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Limit your intake of red meat (in the report defined as meat from beef, pork, lamb and goat) to 500 grams (prepared by weight) per week and avoid processed meats.
